As I sit in the car on my way to Asheville, NC and my 3rd Travel Nurse Contract, I can honestly say that the weeks between signing the contract and hitting the road are the worst!
After signing a contract, the “on-bourding” professional assigned to me gets to work with arranging access to all required modules and tests. They arrange which lab facilities I can go to for bloodwork and drug screens and they are my contact for all things that go wrong. Trust me, there will always be something that goes wrong!
With a 3 day deadline (the normal is 2 weeks), I rushed to complete the last of my requirements and took the Cerner EMR test Friday, but not without a huge hassle and a literal migraine.
I had the hardest time getting access to my scheduled proctored online evaluation but after a brief meltdown on my end and some really hard work by my current and past “on-boarding” team, they made the test happen just before the deadline!
I can not stress enough how much I, as a Travel Nurse, need to trust and rely on the team behind the curtain! This is why it is important to work with a great recruiter and why I work with Company P. They have saved the day many times and I will continue to turn to them for future contracts!
Incase you are curious about the Proctored Cerner EMR exam, it was intimidating but ended up being incredibly easy. I have worked with Cerner EMR in the past, so that goes along way in my success but they also gave modules prior to the exam. The modules had “now you try” quizzes after each new scenario and those quizzes were nearly identical to the exam scenarios. Easy Peasy!
I am 1 week away from my 3rd first day! Keep following along, the best part of every contract is just around the corner!
